Net Metering and On-Grid Solar: A Guide for Commercial Rooftops

Commercial net metering in Pakistan can materially reduce daytime demand charges, but the engineering starts with export limits, roof structural surveys and harmonic compatibility with existing diesel backup.

Grid-tied inverters such as SolarMax IP66 10–25 kW and 6G 50–60 kW platforms are designed for three-phase export. Your EPC must coordinate CT placement, protection settings and anti-islanding compliance with the relevant DISCO before commissioning.

Rooftop shading from water tanks, signage and neighbouring buildings can destroy ROI models drawn on unshaded satellite imagery. A proper irradiance study and string layout should precede any purchase order.

Pair on-grid generation with interval metering data. Sites with flat midday load profiles benefit most; plants that are empty on weekends may need export optimisation or battery buffering — solar inverters may outperform pure on-grid in those cases.
